Dad had his chemo treatment today; 7 or 8 bags he thinks. When he went to the appointment his oxygen level was too low. The minimum should be 90, ideal is 95 and his was 88. The doctor has ordered him to use his oxygen 24/7. The shortness of breath is not from the chemo killing red blood cells like dad thought. Hopefully, he will do what the doctor says and use it all the time. The doctor also told him to start using the scooter a little bit more so he doesn't get out of breath so quickly. He also recommended that he use a walker to keep from falling. He told dad that a broken hip would not be a good thing to add to his medical resume.
Just in case we don't get a chance to update the blog again before the weekend, I wanted to let everyone know, May 25th is mom's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope that it is a special one.
We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday weekend.

Quick Update
Just a quick update to let you know that dad fell again on Sunday, on the pavement. They had gone out to dinner with Chuck and Aunt Charlene. It was Aunt Charlene's first outing since her surgery and by the time she got in the restaurant, she was in tears from the pain. When they got home, dad just wanted to sit in the car and enjoy the sun and told mom to go ahead and go in so she did. A bit later, the dogs start barking and dad walks in with blood dripping down his forehead. He is pretty scraped up and so I don't think the doctor will have any trouble noticing he is having some balance issues.
I will update again after dad sees the doctor on Wednesday for his chemo treatment. Hang in there, dad. You have many people cheering you on and praying for you. I love you.

It's Been Awhile
Yes, we haven't updated this blog for awhile, but that doesn't mean things aren't happening. Dad has had a tough week. The latest round of chemo has left him more dizzy and shaky than others in the past. He is also very short of breath. He hasn't been taking his oxygen at home as much but doesn't think that has anything to do with his shortness of breath. Apparently the chemo is killing his red blood cells and that is what is causing his shortness of breath.
With the nice weather, mom and dad were hoping to be able to get out and do something fun this weekend. Yesterday, they went out for breakfast and to Walmart and after that dad felt he just needed to go home and rest. In walking from the car to the house he took a big spill on the asphalt. He is ok but very bruised and skinned up pretty bad on his arms and he said his shoulder hurts really bad.
With not having his plumbing business, he has started to focus on his photography. He is working on selling his pictures through various venues. He is working on a website and a few other internet outlets for his pictures. He is even talking about doing some weekend art fair type of opportunities when he is feeling better.
This week is chemo week. He says that he is going to talk to his doctor with both barrels loaded. He is hoping to get some relief for his shortness of breath and the dizziness. We'll keep you posted as the week progresses. Thank you again for your prayers.
